Visit Khlong Lat Mayom and Taling Chan floating markets in the western suburbs of Bangkok. We will make our way to the markets through Bangkok's old canals.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
On this half-day tour, we will visit both Taling Chan and Lat Mayom 'floating" markets. To optimise your appreciation of the city and the markets we will be travelling like a local on this tour. Our guide will meet you at your hotel and we will make our way by the most appropriate public transport methods to the boat pier. Do not worry about navigating the bustling Bangkok public transport system as our guide will be on hand to escort you every step of the way. We will make our way to the boat pier where we will board the boat to the markets. The boat will make its way through western Bangkok's canal network and from this special vantage point, you will get a unique view of the city and canal-side life. Our first stop of the morning will be at the busy Taling Chan Floating Market. This market has a great local feel and doesn't see many foreign visitors. The market provides a great opportunity to try some local foods as there is an abundance of eateries street food available. Our next stop of the morning will be at Klong Lat Mayom Floating market another colourful canal-side market. As well as plenty of fresh produce on sale, locals come in their droves to eat and is a great place to try some authentic Thai dishes. After the markets, we will make our way back to your hotel.
Note: The return boat trip to the market will depend on the local water gates. Sometimes due to high tides water gates are closed and boat travel will not be possible. If travel by boat is not possible then we can do this tour by minibus (no extra charge or difference in price) There is an option to take a boat trip while at the market which will visit the local canals around the market. You may want to consider this option if you arrive by minibus.
Note: Please do not expect much floating commerce at these floating markets as most of the market and trading and eating takes place on dry land. These markets are teeming with colourful local life and commerce and are well worth a visit.
Note: We will use public transport options to get you to and from the boat pier. You will not be provided with a minibus or private transport. This is a great way to get an up-close view of the real Bangkok. The public transport could be Skytrain, underground train, taxi or tuk-tuk depending on the location of your originating hotel and local availability of transport on the day. We need to be a little flexible on this tour as all factors can not always be controlled please partake in this tour with an open mind and a sense of adventure.
